Of course an engine upgrade is a perfect time to freshen up or upgrade other parts of the firewall forward. Like Baffling, oil cooler, starter and alternator and hoses.



 

 

 

The Bold-Warrior conversion requires an O-360-A4M ( or A4A,A3A,A4N) and a Sensenich 76EM8-0-60 or 62 propeller. In addition, the upgrade requires a change in the airbox.

STC

The STC cost is $950 and includes the required permission to use the STC, installation instructions and email or phone support in completing the installation. We have a busy shop and work schedules, as so please be patient waiting for a response, sometimes we are flying and can’t reach the phone.

The Engine and Propeller

We have partnered with PennYan Aero to supply new or overhauled engine/prop packages for our upgrade customers. PennYan Aero can build Bold Warrior engines and supply new Sensinich propellers. Feel free to contact us regarding engine and propeller pricing. You are, of course, welcome to source your own engine and propeller. ( Be sure to select an engine with a appropriate fuel pump)

Through the Bold Warrior Upgrade Program, we offer a new propeller and an overhauled -A4M engine with Overhauled Nickel cylinders with an airworthy core exchange. Some restrictions apply. Email for current pricing.

Airbox

The Airbox used in the conversion is a Piper 62921-00 from a Cherokee 180 or Archer aircraft. The airbox is modified by the owner per pictures supplied with the STC. We can recommend some shops to do the modification if the owner/installer is not proficient in TIG welding thin wall Aluminum.

The estimated upgrade with a repairable exchange is $1900 for the airbox.

Baffling

The existing baffling can be reused. It must be modified in a few areas to fit the wider engine. Our instructions show how this is done and our airbox parts kit includes some spacers and hardware to make this easier. We also have a special baffle kit produced by Airforms Inc. specially for the Bold Warrior. This baffling is available in Bare aluminum and Powdercoated in Hammered Grey. Other Parts

In addition, we recommend new Motor mount isolators, hoses and either flush the oil cooler or replace it at this time. No need for all that old gunk to flush through your new engine. New lightweight alternators also are a great idea as they offset some of the additional weight and often provide better service and less noise through the avionics.

 Cherokee Scout

The Cherokee Scout conversion requires an O-360-A4M ( or A4A,A3A,A4N) and a Sensenich 76EM8-0-58, 60 or 62 propeller. In addition, the upgrade requires a change in the airbox.

The Scout conversion requires a welded extension to the exhaust. This can be performed in the field or we can assist with this operation.
